1. How did you come to make art? Did you study? Are you self-taught?
I went to art school at UCLA. So I’m not a self-taught artist, but I am, more-or-less a self-taught writer, which is something I also identify as.
2. Why did you choose to sell your art as an NFT? Was it easy to implement?
I’m from Silicon Valley and, though I don’t have a technical background, I’ve always been interested in emergent technologies and their role in shaping culture.
3. Who are your favorite inspiring artists ? Favorite NFT artists? Favorite NFT influencers?
I love Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol as artists. Some of my favorite NFT artists are @elliepritts and @waambat. I also love @sadgirlsbar as a project. My favorite NFT influencer is probably @pussyriot (who is also an artist), and also my Flash Femme co-host @LadyCactoid.
4. What's your art about? How do you question our world with your art?
The Medusa Collection is specifically about reframing the Medusa myth. I made my first IRL Medusa paintings in 2019 after learning that Medusa was actually a rape victim. In my work, I try to use accessible archetypes that reflect my lived experience. When I do that with honesty, other people can often see their lived experience in my work as well.
5. What are your plans for your next creations/artwork ?
The Medusa Collection Community is planning on collectively writing a Medusa novel that tells her story. Most of the writing will be done by Cryptoversal, but the plotting will be done collectively. I might make illustrations for each chapter. Still working out the details. I also have loose plans to launch my memoir, which I’ve been working on for 5+ years (my own personal Medusa story) via the Medusa Collection. If all goes well, it will lead to a major personal/communal transformation that might result in a final Pegasus Collection.
6. If you are a collector as well, what are your favorite artists in your collection or that you would like to have in your collection?
I like @kennyschac, @Waambat, @CodyEdison1, @Violette_marin, @elliepritts, @Jen_Stark, @ChristineTWang, any of the artists that @EPOCH_gallery or @EverGoldGallery features.
7. In addition to the We Love NFT community, which communities do you spend time with or even contribute to?
I’m co-organizer of @NFTuesdayLA, a weekly meet-up group with lots of offsite events, based in LA, CA. I’m also part of a weekly Twitter Spaces called Flash Femmes of @NFTLandofficial. So NFTuesdayLA and NFTLAnd are two communities, in addition to the Medusa Collection, that I’m very involved in.
8. What would you like for our We Love NFT community?
This is great!
9. Anything else you would like to add?
Nope! Thank you!!!
